The second Asian City Forum to be held in Changchun, Jilin Province

The second Asian City Forum will take place in Changchun, Jilin Province on Sunday 16th August 2009. The forum, whose main theme is “From Asia, Beyond Asia”, was founded to strengthen cooperation between Asian cities, government officials, scholars and the media industry. Many prominent and distinguished guests have been invited, including government officials responsible for the promotion of the city’s image in developed cities such as Seoul in Korea, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates and Hong Kong.

Both national and international experts and scholars researching urban marketing and city image, from countries as far as the United States and Australia, will participate in the event. The aim of the event is to provide a platform for the exchange of experiences and the latest relevant research results, to enter into discussion about hot topics related to the creation and promotion of city image, to promote the soft power of cities and by extension, to assist with its competitiveness.

Apart from the discussions, the Asian City Forum will also bring together a team of experts to undertake special research in the area of city image and soft power and to provide academic support in constructing the image of cities. Moreover, they will also hold a seminar based on the topic of cities, run a training course on the promotion of city branding, as well as launch a project intended to strengthen exchanges between Asian cities and other cities worldwide. Moreover, the Asian City Forum also intends to promote the formation and growth of a League of Asian Cities. This League hopes to simultaneously facilitate a more long-term platform for mutual exchange between cities, as well as to promote sustainable and harmonious development.
